TV Film of the Week: Black Book

It may be a fact that’s a little hard to digest about the man who brought us satire, sex and sensationalism aplenty with a Hollywood output that included Robocop, Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Showgirls and Starship Troopers, but Paul Verhoeven actually started his career directing low-key, serious works. His second film, Turkish Delight, received an Academy Award nomination, but it was his fourth, Soldier of Orange, that brought him tangible international success.
