12 Years a Slave

If the ubiquitous, fawning, star spangled posters and newspaper adverts are to be believed, we have in Steve McQueen’s third major feature, the first essential film of 2014. Based on Solomon Northrup’s 1853 memoir of the same name, ‘12 Years a Slave’ brings those experiences to the big screen.
